Severe Cold Wave Grips Delhi and Rest of North India

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi may experience cold waves up to severe cold waves until January 17. A gradual rise in temperature of 3-5 degrees Celsius between January 18 and 20 under the influence of a western disturbance has also been predicted by the weather office. Minimum temperatures are expected to drop by about 2 degrees Celsius over several regions of Northwest and Central India until Tuesday.In some areas of Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and west Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, chilly to severe cold wave conditions prevailed. The season’s lowest minimum temperature of – 2.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Churu, close to the Thar desert in Rajasthan, according to IMD’s website.Over the plains of northwest India, Fatehpur in the Sikar district of Rajasthan recorded the lowest minimum temperature, at minus 4.7 degrees Celsius. At -1 degrees Celsius, Faridkot in Punjab trembled.There have been reports of extremely cold days in several areas of Himachal Pradesh, as well as frigid days in some areas of Rajasthan and Haryana.
