Amid fear of AI taking jobs, new study reveals that AI can actually improve relationships at work

While workers everywhere worry that artificial intelligence (AI) will replace human workers, a recent study has shown that this is not the case. According to this, AI is genuinely helping workers and improving their working environment. The Work Relationship Index, the most recent study from HP, indicates that a growing number of employees worldwide are currently experiencing burnout, excessive workloads, and debilitating stress. AI is helping people manage their tasks and reduce stress at work in the midst of this growing workload.

Employees believe AI could help them deal with workplace morale issues, despite low morale in workplaces worldwide, according to a study that surveyed over 15,600 respondents across 12 countries, including India. According to Dave Shull, President of HP Workforce Solutions at HP Inc., AI presents a significant opportunity to change work dynamics and open the door to a more positive and productive environment for everyone. He continued, “Business leaders must take the initiative to educate employees on AI’s potential and spearhead its effective integration in order to foster greater understanding and acceptance of AI and ensure that workers know how to benefit from it.”

Increase in workload

Only 27% of knowledge workers who were surveyed said they had a positive relationship with their work, according to the study. Concurrently, about 58% of working professionals who received services stated that they have higher expectations for their jobs now than they did three years ago. 71 percent of workers in growing economies feel this way, compared to 50 percent in mature economies, making this trend especially significant in these regions.

AI is seen as a helping end

Employees believe AI holds the key to fostering healthier work relationships amidst this mounting stress. Business executives and IT decision-makers are leading the way in this particular awareness campaign among the workforce. A study indicates that 54% of knowledge workers, 72% of business leaders, and 70% of IT decision-makers think AI has the potential to improve work-life balance. Furthermore, 58 percent of professionals and 75 percent of business leaders believe that artificial intelligence (AI) can simplify their jobs and streamline tasks.

It’s interesting to note that, in developing economies, 76% of professionals think AI will make their work “easier,” and 75% think it will make it “more interesting” (versus 48% and 44%, respectively, in developed economies).

Employees are still unsure about AI’s precise application and potential, despite growing optimism regarding the technology’s beneficial adaptation. The study’s conclusions, which additionally show that many employees are having difficulty utilising AI effectively, clearly reflect this uncertainty. This emphasises how important it is to have thorough training programmes.

The strategic integration of artificial intelligence (AI) emerges as a powerful force for transformation in an evolving work landscape where organisations are trying to unlock heightened engagement, retention, and productivity as well as keep their employees inspired, according to Stella Low, Chief Communications Officer, HP Inc. The stage is set for business leaders to take advantage of the chance to empower their staff and foster success. Knowledge workers worldwide are looking to senior leadership to guide them through the AI landscape.
