Bengaluru-based EdTech StartUp FrontRow Lays Off 75% of Workforce

FrontRow, the well-known EdTech Startup located in Bengaluru has laid off 75% of the workforce which includes 130 employees. The co-founder of FrontRow, Mr. Ishaan Preet Singh said, “This was of course a difficult decision but as we looked at our business we realized that the push on sales and marketing that we had done was both unsustainable and the wrong way to build the business,” on a tweet.

He also added in the tweet; “We continue to be extremely bullish on our product and the problem space, and will be back in a renewed avatar soon”.

However, this approach is not new for the company. In May this year, this company which is a hobby learning startup laid off around 145 employees which stands for 30% of the then workforce. That time, they had cited the ‘tough market condition’.

The startup has assured that it will help people who have been laid off to get a job in various industries like engineering, operations, generalists, sales, or customer support.

The business strategy of FrontRow is similar to that of the EdTech firm MasterClass in San Francisco, where famous people teach classes in their respective disciplines.

Neha Kakkar, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suresh Raina, and Yuzvendra Chahal are among the instructors who teach classes for the startup on singing, comedy, fast bowling, batting, and spin bowling, respectively.
