Booking.com has added an AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT to help you book hotels and make travel arrangements

Booking.com, a website for booking travel, has introduced a brand-new “AI Trip Planner” that uses large language model (LLM) technology from OpenAI’s ChatGPT API to assist users in making travel and itinerary plans. The experimental AI Trip Planner will be made available to US travelers on the firm’s app starting on June 28th, according to a blog post by the company. After testing with a small number of travelers, the feature will be made generally available.

According to Booking.com, travelers might utilize the ChatGPT-like AI-powered chatbot to efficiently arrange their vacation. According to the business, “Travelers can easily chat with the pilot AI Trip Planner to describe what they’re looking for in broad or specific terms, ask questions, and refine their search in real-time, with new options surfaced in just a matter of seconds.” Simply said, it means that the AI chatbot will assist customers in narrowing down places based on inputs and keywords, such as romantic Caribbean beaches, four-bedroom vacation homes with air conditioning and a pool, etc.

In its demo, Booking.com demonstrates that the chatbot’s output will contain links to properties and overnight rates. To get the desired outcomes, users must use prompts in a specific way. The example indicates that achieving the best results would depend heavily on using travel-related keywords like itineraries and non-touristy.

Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking.com, commented on the launch in the blog post, saying, “The recent developments with generative AI are accelerating the work we’ve been doing for years with machine learning to enhance and improve every aspect of the customer experience on our platform, whether it’s optimizing the right order to display a hotel’s photos or surfacing the most relevant reviews. Our brand-new AI trip planner is merely the next phase of our continuing investigation into how to improve the overall trip planning process’ value and, hopefully, fun.”

The AI chatbot’s potential is limitless, but it can be useful in helping with travel planning and itinerary creation. The AI Trip Planner may also successfully assist visitors in finding information about the establishment, such as available rooms, sizes, and other amenities, based on user evaluations and other data readily available online. Users can successfully use it to learn more about the stores in the area they want to visit. Although there is no official word yet, we may anticipate that the AI Trip Planner will expand out to additional nations, including India.
