Elon Musk Introduces Twitch-inspired Element to X, Showcases Live Stream of Diablo IV Gameplay

Gaming is a pastime for Elon Musk, which is not unusual. And his goal of making X (formerly known as Twitter) into the “everything app” that can do it all is also well known. Perhaps this explains why the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X wants to compete fiercely with Twitch, a well-known platform for live-streaming video games. On Monday, Musk began an hour-long live stream of himself playing Diablo IV after signing in to X with what appears to be his gaming username. The game is not only wildly popular, but it may also be difficult for inexperienced players. Elon, who is currently level 95 in the game, seemed to have made great progress and provided a brief gameplay video.

Musk can be heard talking to viewers at the start of the livestream and getting their feedback on things like the audio quality and screen visibility. Musk offers a small giggle and begins the game when people confirm that they can see and hear him. Near the end of the livestream, the billionaire also mentions that only Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to use the live chat feature. The footage on the livestream can also be forwarded and played in picture-in-picture mode while browsing Twitter.

Musk posted a message under his gaming handle, “Just a quick test of X video game streaming.” Musk published a brief excerpt of the live stream on his official account, writing, “Tested the X video game streamer system last night,” despite the fact that the original version is almost an hour long. It works. Will attempt to finish a Tier 100 Nightmare dungeon live on this platform tonight.

Elon Musk’s love for gaming

Furthermore, the billionaire’s biography by Walter Isaacson emphasizes Musk’s passion for video games. According to the book, Musk developed a gaming interest when he was just 13 years old and sold a video game he had made at that time to a magazine.

Isaacson describes how Musk used Turbo C++ and Pascal to teach himself how to program. He made the video game Blastar when he was just 13 years old. It included attacking an alien space freighter that was loaded with lethal hydrogen bombs and status beam machines. Musk received USD 500 for selling this video game to a magazine. Following that, the 13-year-old Musk offered the magazine two more video games. While one game resembled Donkey Kong (a well-known arcade game that skyrocketed in popularity in the 90’s).  Another was a roulette and blackjack stimulator from the 1990s.
