Meta Verified is now available in India: what it costs, how to get it, and what happens to current verified accounts

Meta unveiled its Verified function for some markets a few weeks ago. Meta Verified is now being expanded into new markets, including India and a few others. “We’re expanding our Meta Verified testing to India after seeing good results from our early testing in several countries globally,” the business said in an official blog post.

So, what exactly is Meta Verified?

It is, as the name suggests, a subscription package for Instagram and Facebook that includes a verified badge that authenticates accounts with government ID, proactive account protection, and access to account assistance. “We’ve made a few changes based on what we learned from our initial Meta Verified test in Australia and New Zealand, including the removal of increased reach for additional test countries.” This is still India’s approach. “We’re looking into adding elements to the subscription as we expand into new markets and will share more when we’re ready,” the company wrote on its official blog.

Users receive three benefits from Meta Verified: a verified badge, impersonation protection, and account support.

Your identity is validated with a verified badge. It uses a government ID to verify your account. Proactive account monitoring for impersonators who may target users with rising online audiences protects against impersonation. Account assistance is provided to help with typical account concerns. It is currently only available in English, but it will soon be available in Hindi as well.

How much does Meta Verified cost in India?

Meta Verified is now available for purchase directly on the Instagram or Facebook app in India. On iOS and Android, users can purchase a monthly subscription for Rs 699. The company has verified that web verification will be accessible in the coming months for a lower monthly fee of Rs 599.

What will happen to existing blue tick accounts?

The verified badge will be kept for accounts that were verified prior to the introduction of Meta Verified, according to Meta. “These accounts were subjected to a series of criteria to ensure their genuine presence, and they may be more vulnerable to impersonation than the average user.” As a result, it’s critical that we maintain the verified badge to protect their accounts and the people who interact with them,” the company noted.

How do I acquire Facebook and Instagram verification?

There are three eligibility requirements for the same.
1. Accounts must have a certain amount of activity, such as a prior posting history, and candidates must be at least 18 years old.
2. Applicants must present a government identification card that matches the profile name and photo on the Facebook or Instagram account for which they are applying.
3. Meta Verified subscriptions will offer proactive account impersonation monitoring.
