Reliance Jio and Airtel Hike Prepaid, Postpaid Prices: New Unlimited 5G Plans Announced

Starting July 3, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio will raise prices on prepaid and postpaid plans to sustain profitability and support investments in advanced technology and better network infrastructure.

Airtel’s Tariff Hike:

Airtel aims to maintain an Average Revenue per User (ARPU) above Rs 300. The price hikes are modest, with the smallest increase being less than 70 paise per day to avoid burdening budget-conscious customers.

New Airtel Plans:

  • Rs 199 Plan: 2GB data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS/day for 28 days.
  • Rs 509 Plan: 6GB data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS/day for 84 days.
  • Rs 299 Plan: 1GB data/day, unlimited calling, 100 SMS/day for 28 days.
  • Rs 449 Plan: 3GB data/day, unlimited calling, 100 SMS/day for 28 days.

Postpaid Plans:

  • Rs 449 Plan: 40GB data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS/day, Xstream Premium.
  • Rs 549 Plan: 75GB data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS/day, Xstream Premium, Disney+ Hotstar for 12 months, Amazon Prime for 6 months.
Reliance Jio’s Tariff Hike:

Reliance Jio will increase prepaid and postpaid plan prices by 12%. Plan benefits remain unchanged, and new unlimited 5G plans are introduced for users with 2GB/day and above.

New Jio Plans:

  • Rs 189 Plan: Unlimited calls, 2GB data, SMS benefits for 28 days.
  • Rs 349 Plan: 2GB data/day, unlimited calls, SMS benefits for 28 days.
  • Rs 799 Plan: 1.5GB data/day, unlimited calls, SMS benefits for 84 days.
  • Rs 1899 Plan: 24GB data, unlimited calls, SMS benefits for 336 days.
  • Rs 3599 Plan: 2.5GB data/day, unlimited calls, SMS benefits for 365 days.

Data Add-On Plans:

  • Rs 19 Plan: 1GB additional data.
  • Rs 29 Plan: 2GB additional data.
  • Rs 69 Plan: 6GB additional data.

Postpaid Plans:

  • Rs 349 Plan: 30GB data per billing cycle.
  • Rs 449 Plan: 75GB data per billing cycle.

New Jio Apps:

  • JioSafe: Quantum-secure communication app.
  • JioTranslate: AI-powered multilingual communication app.

Both apps will be free for a year for users.

These changes reflect the new pricing strategies of Airtel and Jio, balancing business needs with consumer affordability, effective from July 3, 2024.
