'Tera Kya Hoga Lovely' trailer: Film offers bold take on India's fair skin obsession

On February 27, the makers unveiled the teaser for the film “Tera Kya Hoga Lovely,” which stars Randeep Hooda and Ilena D’Cruz. Ileana makes her screen comeback with this, following her appearance in the 2021 movie “The Big Bull.” The film, which was directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua, illuminates India’s obsession with fair skin and dowries.

The film, which is set in Haryana, stars Ileana as Lovely, a dark complexion girl who initially wants to marry a suitable match but ultimately decides to pursue higher education. Now enter Randeep Hooda, who develops feelings for her despite her skin tone. But things get complicated when his family finds out that he has feelings for a woman with darker skin.

A social comedy-drama exploring the pressures placed on society around beauty standards is hinted at in the trailer. It skillfully strikes a balance between humor and the seriousness of its message, maintaining the core of the story.

“Tera Kya Hoga Lovely,” which is produced by Sony Pictures Films India, is expected to start a conversation about India’s obsession with fair-skinned brides and large dowries. Ileana’s first film since giving birth to her son Koa Phoenix Dolan last year is slated for release on March 8, International Women’s Day.

In addition, Ileana will feature in the March 29 film “Do Aur Do Pyaar,” which also stars Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
