The trailer for Ponniyin Selvan 2 features Aishwarya Rai as Nandini, who wants retribution against the Cholas.

The film’s audio and trailer were dramatically unveiled by the producers on Wednesday at Chennai Nehru Indoor Stadium. As the main guest during the occasion, Kamal Haasan presided. Similar to the original installment, the sequel’s trailer teases audiences with the epic scope of the picture with some magnificent graphics. It also shows that each of the key actors would be equally prominent, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan commanding all the focus as the Nandini who yearns for vengeance after her father’s passing. She is heard declaring, “We shall annihilate the Cholas,” in a scene.

The whole cast and crew of the movie, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and Sobhita Dhulipala among others, were present at the event. At the launch event was AR Rahman, who composed the film’s score. There are now many images and videos from the event online.

On Tuesday, Aishwarya released a new poster from the film. Sharing the poster, Aishwarya wrote, “Fire in their eyes. Love in their hearts. Blood on their swords. The Cholas will be back to fight for the throne!”

The early years of Arulmozhivarman (Ponniyin Selvan), who would later become the Chola emperor Rajaraja I, were described in Ponniyin Selvan 1. (947–1014). Arulmozhivarman was played by Jayam Ravi in the movie, and other prominent characters included Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The movie went on to earn more than 500 crore at the box office worldwide. After surpassing Kamal Haasan’s Vikram’s lifetime revenue of 183 crore in Tamil Nadu, PS 1 went on to become the highest grossing Tamil movie of all time in the state. After a decade, the movie marked Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s return to Tamil cinema. Both Nandini and her mute mother Mandakini Devi were characters that Aishwarya was portraying. After the film’s debut, both critics and viewers were impressed with Aishwarya’s performance.
