Aditya Chopra kept Anushka Sharma a secret before the release of the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. In one of the episodes of The Romantics Anushka Sharma who turned 35 today revealed that Aditya Chopra, the filmmaker wanted to keep her under wraps and even asked her to hide the project from her parents. Though her entry in Bollywood was superb with Shahrukh Khan, very few had known that she auditioned for 3 Idiots as well for the role played by Kareena Kapoor.
During the shoot of the PK movie, she showed her audition tape to Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan. Hirani and Khan along with R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Kareena Kapoor in the lead role have worked in 3 Idiots. In The Romantics, the video started with Anushka Sharma talking to the camera and announcing sharing one of her secrets. She mentioned auditioning for a big film in the year 2007.
In the BTS clip, Hirani can be heard saying “Anushka auditioned for 3 Idiots? No, she didn’t,” After hearing Anushka showed them the audition video leaving everyone surprised. The actor performed the dialogue of Gracy Singh from Munna Bhai MBBS’s Climax where Gracy Singh addressed Boman Irani’s character after Sanjay Dutt was rusticated from the Medical College.
Anushka felt embarrassed after Aamir and Rajkumar looked at the video in disbelief. Aamir complimented Anushka for tearing up on screen without glycerin and mocked the director for rejecting her after such a beautiful test. The trio then laughed at the coincidence and their reactions were shot.

Anushka debuted in the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008 and since then she has proved her acting skills in films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Sultan, Dil Dhadakne Do, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Sui Dhaga, and more. She got into producing films with her brother Karnesh Sharma through her production company Clean Slate Films in 2013 and had produced films like NH10, Pari, and Phillauri, and OTT content like Paatal Lok, Bulbbul, and Qala. Last year she left the production company to focus on acting and her daughter.
She married cricketer Virat Kohli and welcomed their baby girl Vamika in January 2021. Anushka Sharma will be back on the screens with Netflix’s biopic Chakda Xpress as the Indian women cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
