IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall in a few states

In several parts of the country, the India Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall today. According to IMD, Kerala, Meghalaya and the Coastal and South interior of Karnataka are supposed to get heavy rainfall on 4th July. Respective district authorities have announced holidays for all schools and colleges in Mangaluru, Mulki, Ullal, Moodbidri and Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada DC Mulai Mugilan due to heavy rains.

For Kerela IMD has predicted heavy rains and has issued orange alerts for 11 districts and red alerts for two districts.

Red alerts are also issued for Kannur and Idukki districts and orange alerts for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts of Kerala. Yellow alerts are also issued to the Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts of the state.

Delhi is predicted to get light rain or thundershowers as there will be cloudy skies today. The maximum temperature for Delhi will be around 38 degrees Celsius whereas, the minimum is recorded to be around 28 degrees Celsius.

18 districts of Odisha are under yellow alert from 3rd July-7th July 2023. In the Odisha district, a few places are predicted to get light to moderate rain or thundershowers according to the IMD’s forecast. IMD has predicted that from 4th July 2023 8:30 am to 5th July 8:30 am there will be a “thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir. Heavy Rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Nawarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada.”

Prediction for South India

Over the South India region, it is predicted that during the next four days, there will be light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rain. From the 3rd to the 5th of July there will be extremely heavy rainfall over Kerela, whereas on the 4th of July, the coastal and south interior of Karnataka is supposed to get heavy rains.

Prediction for West India

Light to moderate to heavy rains is predicted over the Konkan & Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the next four days and Gujarat state from the 6th and 7th of July.

Prediction for East & adjoining Northeast India

Over the sub-Himalayan west region, there will be heavy rainfall that will cover West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur during the next four days.
Meghalaya may get heavy rainfall on the 4th of July. Jharkhand may receive isolated heavy rainfall on the 4th of July whereas Odisha may receive the same from the 5th to the 7th of July.

Prediction for Northwest India

Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Uttarakhand during the next four days. The East of Uttar Pradesh will receive rain from 3rd-5th July whereas, Himachal Pradesh
on 5th and 6th July
