Covid-19 Live Updates: With 5880 cases mock drill begins today for access hospital preparedness

According to the Union health Ministry data updated on Monday in the last 24 hours India has recorded 5880 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths. On April 10 and 11 a nationwide mock drill is to take place to check hospital preparedness of both public and private facilities. According to officials, on April 10 Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will visit AIIMS, Jhajjar to monitor the mock drill.

On April 7 a review meeting was conducted where Mandaviya had requested the state health ministers for the hospital visits to monitor the mock drill. He stressed on the importance of monitoring and identifying the emergency trends in influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases, fastening the testing and vaccination and ensuring the hospital infrastructure is ready.

According to data updated by the city government’s health department this Sunday 699 fresh COVID-19 cases are logged in Delhi with a positivity rate of 21.15 percent. The data update mentioned that among four people who died suffering from COVID-19, there was only one person whose primary cause of death was covid.

On Sunday the issue of making masks mandatory was discussed amidst the rise of cases over the past two weeks in the country but the final decision is yet to be announced.

On Friday, the neighboring Haryana government had made wearing of masks mandatory across the state at all the public places, government offices and malls where the gathering is of more than 100 people.

There is an increase in the death toll to 5,30,979 including 14 deaths. As per the data updated at 8am stated that there were four deaths each reported from Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. One death each was reported from Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Two deaths were reported from Kerala.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 6.91 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 3.67 percent.
