Gadar 2′, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has seized the box office by storm. The film, directed by Anil Sharma, had a strong opening weekend and appeared to have surpassed the lifetime gross of the first ‘Gadar’ within its first weekend. Sunny Deol, who made his spectacular debut in ‘Betaab,’ has returned to the screen with yet another action-packed picture and is still delivering hits at the age of 65. ‘Gadar 2’ showed Tara Singh and Sakeena’s legacy, set amidst the tumultuous Crush India Movement of 1971, with performances by outstanding actors, compelling monologues, and the legendary hand pump.
Despite competing with Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2,’ ‘Gadar 2’ had the second-highest opening of 2023, trailing only Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Sacnilk estimates that the film made Rs 40 crore nett India on its first day. ‘Gadar 2’ was released 23 years after ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. Sunny Deol’s film, on the other hand, surpassed Prabhas’ big-budget mythological epic Adipurush, which made Rs 32 crore in its first week. Given the weekend, it appears that the picture will continue to soar to new heights and emerge as another year’s blockbuster.
The cast also features Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Luv Sinha, Simrat Kaur, Mir Sarwar, Rohit Choudhary, and Rakesh Bedi, in addition to Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. Mithoon provided the music for ‘Gadar 2’, while Monty Sharma composed the background score.
