On Sunday, the Mumbai Indians made history by winning the inaugural WPL 2023 trophy. In a thrilling final, Mumbai, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, defeated Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets. Kaur scored 37 runs while Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 60 runs to enable Mumbai make a comeback in the game.

In terms of the game, Mumbai restricted Delhi to an average total of 131 runs before chasing down the target with three balls to spare. At the Brabourne stadium, Delhi skipper Meg Lanning scored 35 runs and was the team’s star with the bat. Shafali Verma and Marizanne Kapp scored 11 and 18 runs, respectively. Shikha Pandey (27 not out) and Radha Yadav (27 not out) forged a 53-run stand to enable Delhi post a competitive total.
DC captain Lanning acknowledged her team’s error, saying, “We would have wanted to win, but full credit to MI.”
