IIFA Updates: List of Winners of the awards

In the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2023 held in Abu Dhabi on Saturday Hrithik Roshan was awarded the trophy for Best Actor for his powerful performance in the movie Vikram Vedha also starring Saif Ali Khan. Alia Bhatt bagged the Best Actor in the Leading Role female award for her Gangubai Kathiawadi character. The film producer Jayantilal Gada collected the award on behalf of Alia Bhatt as her maternal grandfather, Narendra Razdan, is not well.

Anil Kapoor, the experienced actor was awarded IIFA 2023 award for his performance in the supporting role (male) for the movie JugJugg Jeeyo.

The long-serving Actor Kamal Haasan was acknowledged for his contribution to Indian Cinema and was awarded the Outstanding Achievement award in Indian Cinema in the IIFA 2023. His award was presented by AR Rahman who was looking handsome in his black suit and everyone including Salman Khan gave a standing ovation to the actor.

The videos and pictures of Hrithik Roshan accepting the award have gone viral in which he said “ “I have lived with Vedha for many years now. It began right here in Abu Dhabi. I gave my first shot as Vedha here… it feels like life has come full circle to me. Vedha helped me unleash madness inside me, which I did not know that it existed. Thank you universe and thank you Vedha for helping me discover that madness and helping me discover the strength to hold that madness.” At last, he said he loves his audience and he can never take them for granted.

Vikram Vedha was an official remake of a movie with the same title that starred R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.

This year at IIFA the winner list includes the most awards from the movie Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva and the biopic Gangubai Kathiawad. The Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva movie collected several awards in the categories of Best Playback Singer-female (Shreya Ghoshal), Best Playback Singer-Male (Arijit Singh), Best Supporting Actor- Female (Mouni Roy).

Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan was awarded the Best Debutant award for his film Qala, he shared the best debutant award with Santanu Maheshwari for his performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi whereas, Khushali Kumar won the Best Debutant award- Female for her performance in Dhoka Around the Corner.

In the Technical categories at IIFA 2023 Gangubai Kathiawadi, a periodic biopic by Sanjay Leela Bhansali won several awards for cinematography, screenplay, and dialogues. The film portrayed a real-life gangster Ganga Harjivandas Kathiawadi of the 1960s in Bombay in which Alia Bhatt played the lead role.
