The Meta Quest Pro is the first in a new line of premium virtual reality and mixed reality headsets from Meta (which was previously demoed under its code name, Project Cambria).
Although the term “pro” is overused in the IT industry, Meta believes that the Quest Pro will be utilised by professionals while the Quest 2 will continue to be used for recreational gamig.
The Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 processor, which Qualcomm revealed today, powers the Quest Pro. It offers a 30% boost in thermals as well as a 50% increase in sustained performance compared to the XR2 within the Quest 2.
The new chip comes with 256GB of storage in addition to 12GB of RAM, which is twice as much as the Quest 2’s 6/128GB of RAM.
