Mirzapur Reimagined: Ali Fazal’s Exclusive Take on Beena Tripathi’s Zombie Universe

In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Mirzapur actors Ali Fazal and Rasika Dugal shared insights into the popular Prime Video gangster drama. Ali Fazal, who plays Guddu Pandit, revealed an intriguing alternate plot focused on Beena Tripathi, portrayed by Rasika Dugal. Beena Tripathi, the astute and brave wife of Kaleen Bhaiyaa (Pankaj Tripathi), has evolved into a central character in the show. Initially marrying for power in season one, Beena’s role in the third season becomes even more pivotal. She maneuvers through the treacherous battle for Mirzapur’s throne, her real intentions concealed from those around her.

Ali Fazal imagines a different narrative where Beena emerges as the “master manipulator.” In his version, Beena creates her own persona, leading a world overrun by zombies. “You are like a master manipulator who is creating her own avatar; it’s as if zombies are being spawned by Beena, leading to a zombie world,” Ali shared, addressing Rasika. “She returns to Pankaj Ji. The stage is set, and as he steps forward, they all turn around and kneel before Beena. That’s the screenplay we want, man.”

Rasika responded enthusiastically, “And, we already have two recruits for this world, Raziya and Maqbool.” This alludes to a post-credit scene in Mirzapur 3 where Raziya, Beena’s aide, seeks Maqbool’s help after Kaleen Bhaiyaa’s return. In the latest season, Beena’s character arc becomes more complex and fascinating. After orchestrating the deaths of Bauji (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) and Munna Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma), Beena cleverly manipulates Golu (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) and Guddu. Her primary goal is to secure the throne of Mirzapur for her son, all while keeping her alliances secret.

You have to be a strategist to be a survivor in the world of Mirzapur. She is on top of her game in that department,” Rasika explained. “She manages to keep Madhuri and Kaleen Bhaiyaa in the dark about her collusion with Golu and Guddu, and they are unaware of her involvement in Munna’s murder. That in itself is an achievement.” Beena’s cunning intelligence sets her apart in a world dominated by violent men. Rasika remarked, “She doesn’t trust anyone for long, and with good reason. She’s lived long enough in this world to know that loyalties can shift at any moment. So, she knows when to play her cards.

As the series progresses, the question arises: How long can Beena continue to play defensively? “I have the same question for our writers and creators. I’m glad I didn’t have to ask it now that you have,” Rasika said. When asked about an alternate costume for her character, Rasika humorously suggested, “I would wear a shirt and pants like Golu.” Beena’s unrelenting pursuit of power and her manipulative strategies make her a standout character in Mirzapur. She embodies various facets of womanhood with flair and remains a figure to watch in the upcoming season(s). Her journey from a power-hungry wife to a master manipulator highlights the depth and complexity of her character, leaving audiences eager for more.
