Oscars 2023: Who’s nominated, Who’s Presenting, Who’s performing this year from India

This year at the Academy Awards many personalities from the Indian film industry are either performing, presenting, or hoping for an award at this prestigious Award show in the US.

There are three nominations from India:
1. “Naatu Naatu” song has been nominated in the Best Original Song category.
2. Shaunak Sen and Aman Mann’s “All That Breathes” is nominated for Best Documentary Feature.
3. “The Elephant Whisperers” by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga is nominated in the Best Documentary short film section.

The song “Naatu Naatu” is the first for India in this category and the makers of the song MM Keeravani and Team RRR are expected to attend the event. The movie RRR is performing phenomenally abroad and has been bagging several awards in different categories including Best Foreign Language film.

Model Persis Khambatta, who starred as Lieutenant Ilia in “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”, in 1980 was the first and in 2016 Priyanka Chopra Jonas was the second to present the Award at the Oscars, though she also presented the awards with her husband Nick Jonas a couple of years later.
Actor Deepika Padukone will be the third Indian to present the awards at the Oscars.

This year at the Awards there will be a live performance of “Naatu Naatu” by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. The official Oscar pre-show will be hosted by Actor and comic Lilly Singh who will interact with the stars on the red carpet.

Deepika Padukone, 37 has announced her presence at the event as a presenter through the official social media handles of the Academy which she shared on Instagram as well. In this set of presenters lists, Padukone joins Riz Ahmed, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B Jordan, Zoe Saldana, Questlove, and Donnie Yen among others.
