Earthquake in Andaman and Nicobar Island

Andaman and Nicobar Islands were struck by an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake is reported in Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the National Centre for Seismology. The earthquake is reported to have occurred at approximately 12:53 a.m. on the 29th of July 2023. The epicentre of the earthquake is reported to be at Latitude: 10.75 and Longitude: 93.47, with a depth of 69 km in the Andaman Islands. The GFZ (German Research Centre for Geosciences) also recorded the earthquake at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles). Currently, no casualties or damage to property has been reported due to the said earthquake.

Two earthquakes struck Mizoram and Campbell Bay in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the month of April. The Richter scale measured the magnitude of a 4.6 earthquake in Campbell Bay, whereas Mizoram was hit by an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale.
