Google India fired 453 employees: CEO Sundar Pichai Address Them

According to reports, Google India has laid off its 453 employees from various departments. The termination of the employees was informed via mail sent by Sanjay Gupta, Country head and Vice President of Google India. The sacking started taking place late at night on Thursday.

Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google last month announced that 12000 employees or 6 percent of its total headcount globally will be fired. The laid off of 453 employees are among those 12000 employees or a new addition to lay offs that is still to be confirmed.

The reports also claim that there were few inputs from Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai in the termination mail. He took responsibility for making decisions that led the company to lay off the employees. In the month of January Sundar Pichai sent a note in which he claimed that the Google employees that are fired outside the US will get support as per local practices.

Tech Layoffs
Google is not the only tech company to lay off its employees. Amazon was initially estimated to lay off 10000 employees but the number has jumped to 18000 employees. Mark Zuckerberg, the META CEO also took full responsibility for the company’s decision to lay off claiming that they were extremely bullish while hiring people during and before the pandemic phase.
