In the second ODI match which was held on 12th January 2023, India won the series by four wickets against Sri Lanka. India scored 219 for 6 against the Srilankan team packed by 215 runs. KL Rahul played very well and scored 64 runs knocking 103 balls, Hardik made 36 runs, Karunaratne scored 51 for 2, and Kumara also showed a wonderful performance and made 64 for 2. In the Sri Lankan Team, Nuwanidu scored 50, Mendis got 34 and Wellalage made 32. The Sri Lankan innings cost them 6 wickets for 50 runs. Overall the team scored 215 runs. The Sri Lankan bowler gave the Indian batters a nice fight but the Indian run rate was too high and their batting resources were astonishing. For the 5th wicket, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya put on a 75-run stand. KL Rahul shared his feelings that it is good for him to play in the 5th position as it lets him understand the match properly. Now onto the Indian team’s bowling, Kuldeep Yadav took Kusal Mendis’ wicket before going after Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka. Amazing performance of Kuldeep enticed the masses. Only Nuwanidu Fernando was capable enough to score a Half-century against the Indian bowlers. It was due to Hasaranga, Karunaratne, and Wellalage, the most junior players of the team, that Sri Lanka breached 200 runs. India beat Sri Lanka by four wickets and Kuldeep Yadav was declared Player of the Match. India holds the series by 2-0.
