How to use the New DMRC travel app: Book tickets online

The latest DMRC Travel app introduced by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation now enables travellers using the Delhi Metro system to conveniently make online ticket bookings. The application can be downloaded for free from both Google Play for Android devices and the iOS platform for iPhones. To access its features, users are required to establish an account and log in.

The DMRC Travel app offers a dedicated platform for booking metro tickets through a simplified process. It generates a QR code, which is to be scanned during entry after the security check at the station. This QR code serves as a digital ticket, offering the advantage of bypassing long queues for physical token purchases. Additionally, the application facilitates the reloading of metro smart cards.

Guidance on Utilising the DMRC Travel App for Purchasing Delhi Metro QR Tickets:

To initiate the process, users need to download the DMRC Travel app, accessible on both Google Play and iOS platforms. Account creation and login are prerequisites to book tickets.

Upon launching the app, users can navigate to the “Book tickets” section on the homepage. Here, the departure and arrival destinations need to be specified. Upon entering these details, the application will display pertinent information including the fare, metro line color, and estimated travel time between the selected points. Payment options encompass UPI, cards, and digital wallets.

As the application is officially endorsed and managed by DMRC, users can access verified information pertaining to Delhi Metro. By tapping the bell icon at the bottom, the app provides updates regarding various metro services. This functionality informs users about any disruptions on specific lines, although the accuracy of these updates may vary.

Moreover, the DMRC Travel app offers the functionality of recharging smart cards. This involves being redirected to an external link with a slightly cluttered interface. Users are prompted to input their Card ID and desired recharge amount. Completion of the process necessitates entering a security code. Subsequently, following the card recharge, users must visit a Delhi Metro station to execute the top-up process through an Automated Vending Machine (AVM).

Advantages of the DMRC Travel App:

Until this recent development, commuters had the option to book and recharge metro tokens, albeit through third-party applications. DMRC’s newly introduced app addresses this gap by offering an integrated platform for online ticket booking and payment. The future status of the prior Delhi Metro Rail app remains uncertain. The previous app assisted users in checking Delhi Metro routes and travel times between stations.

In a related development, DMRC has eased restrictions concerning the carriage of liquor bottles within the metro system. Passengers are now permitted to carry sealed bottles; however, potential issues may arise when travelling between Delhi and Noida.

Seema Kumar, Chairman & Managing Director of IRCTC, emphasized the significance of the collaborative effort: “Through this partnership with DMRC, we are committed to establishing connections across various modes of transportation, ultimately delivering unprecedented benefits to passengers.”

Dr Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, echoed this sentiment, stating, “This initiative not only assures a seamless experience for passengers but also aims to alleviate congestion at DMRC stations by reducing reliance on physical ticketing.”
